About Dewi Griffith

Most of this site exists because something on my own website was broken, and the honest answer was harder to find than it should have been.

I’m Dewi Griffith, based in Balwyn, Melbourne. Ph.D. researcher turned digital marketer, and this is where I document what actually works, mistakes included.

Why This Site Exists

Most advice about fixing a website falls into one of two camps. There’s the generic checklist that could technically apply to any site and doesn’t quite fit yours, and there’s the agency pitch with an obvious reason to make things sound simpler and more guaranteed than they actually are. This site is Dewi Griffith’s attempt at a third option: real numbers, from real sites, including the times it didn’t go the way I expected, starting with an actual Website Success Checklist rather than a generic one.

If you’re trying to work out why your own site isn’t ranking or converting, the honest version of that answer is usually more useful than the confident one. That’s the whole bet this site is built on.

Truthfully, a good chunk of it is simpler than a positioning statement too. I like the research side of this work, running the tests more than once, tracking the real numbers, writing up what actually happened instead of what I expected to happen. Putting that into a proper write-up and having it help someone looking at the same problem is genuinely the best outcome I could ask for, not a means to something else.

How Dewi Griffith Got Here

I was born in Indonesia, where I taught early childhood teacher education at university. Then I came to Australia to do my PhD at Deakin University, and stayed on as a researcher and educator in early childhood education here in Melbourne. But somewhere along the way, I kept drifting toward the internet. Websites especially. How they worked. How people used them. How you could build something and have it actually do something useful.

So I made a shift. I joined the Digital Jobs Program, a Victorian Government initiative designed to help people transition into digital careers. That gave me structured training in digital marketing fundamentals. But training is one thing. Real work is another.

After that, I became a digital marketing manager for a Melbourne business, over a year in the role. That’s where it got real. Running actual campaigns. Working with budgets. Seeing what worked and what didn’t. I learned pretty quickly that most businesses make the same mistake you might be making right now: spending money on advertising when the website underneath it isn’t actually working yet, or building a site with no real strategy behind it and hoping traffic figures itself out.

That combination stuck with me. The research mindset from academia. The practical scars from actual campaign work. This site is where that combination actually gets used.

What I Actually Believe

I work with accurate data. Not inflated metrics, not promises that don’t hold up under a second look. I’d rather explain why something worked for one site and not another than pretend everything works the same way for everyone, because that’s closer to the truth and it’s the version that’s actually useful to someone trying to fix their own site.

The academic background helps with this more than I expected it to. You learn to sit with uncertainty. To test things properly, more than once, before you trust a number. To say plainly when you don’t know something yet, instead of filling the gap with something that sounds confident.

How This Is Different

Everything published here gets tested on a real site first, usually this one or earlychildhoodedu.net, before it goes into a guide. If a fix only partly works, or doesn’t work at all, that’s what gets written up, not a quiet rewrite until it sounds better. You can read the case studies and see that for yourself, including the ones that are still unfinished on purpose, because the honest ending hadn’t happened yet when the post went up.

That’s slower than most content sites operate, and it means fewer posts than I’d probably publish if I stopped testing things twice. But it’s the only version of “does this actually work” that means anything to me.

What I Do

I run two projects.

Griffith Pro Marketing

Fully booked right now

This is Dewi Griffith’s site for documenting real fixes for website speed, SEO, and conversions, real numbers, real Search Console data, real mistakes included. Client work has me fully booked at the moment, and if I’m honest, the research and documentation side of it is the part I enjoy most anyway, so that’s usually where the spare time goes.

If something here is useful to you, that’s genuinely the point. And if you just want to say hello, point out something I got wrong, or ask a question about a specific post, I do read every message that comes in.

earlychildhoodedu.net

This came from my background in early childhood education. It’s a resource for educators and students, evidence-based information on early childhood development, teaching, and policy. Staying connected to that world even though I’m not lecturing anymore.

Why Two Projects

They serve completely different audiences, but they come from the same place. Building things that actually work, and being honest about the parts that don’t yet. For Griffith Pro Marketing, that’s documenting what genuinely fixes a website instead of what sounds good in a pitch. For earlychildhoodedu.net, it’s sharing knowledge that matters in early childhood education, evidenced rather than assumed.

The skills overlap more than you’d think. Research. Clear communication. Trying to understand what people actually need instead of what sounds impressive.

Say Hello to Dewi Griffith

Fully booked with client work at the moment, but if a post here actually helped, if something’s wrong and worth flagging, or you just want to ask about a specific fix, I’d genuinely like to hear from you.
